Job Summary:

Under general supervision by the Director EPC and Operations, the Asset and O&M Manager is responsible for providing financial and operational management as well as reporting expertise to solar power generation facilities. Through safe, operational management, will manage technical issues and maximize net cash generated.  Additional responsibilities include generating reports for each facility and managing the communication to all internal and external parties.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the asset management, operations and maintenance, and monitoring of the OCI Energy operating assets.
  • Perform all asset management duties required to optimize and maximize the generation of OCI Energy operating assets, and ensure the short and long term safety, performance, and reliability for the assets.
  • Perform and complete all reporting requirement within specified deadlines for the operating assets, internal and external.
  • Perform and oversee the performance evaluation of the operating assets, and take and implement necessary actions to increase the revenue.
  • Supervise the work of direct reports.
  • Asset optimization:
    • Conduct proactive predictive and preventive maintenance and technical operational performance analysis.
    • Enabler of asset performance reporting and analysis of key performance metrics.
    • Improve corporate operational knowledge and awareness of solar power generation facilities through training, process improvement, and cost-effective technical improvements and enhancements.
  • Contractual enforcement:
    • Challenge manufacturer performance assessments.
      • Investigation the allocation of solar array downtime as well as performance metrics and associated trends.
      • Enforce warranty and other guarantees within designated contracts.
      • Track / trend key operations & maintenance provider metrics.
    • Investigate site abnormalities to identify root causes, provide corrective actions, and incorporate lessons learned.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of OCI Energy operating assets.
    • Provide feedback to improve and update OCI Energy development model.
  • Manage all warranty and contractual communication with customers, off takers, OEMs, transmission providers, ISO/RTO’s, FERC/NERC, vendors, service providers, and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Responsible for all reporting as it relates to solar power generation facilities under OCI Energy LLC’s individual, direct control.
  • Assist in driving a safety culture that is measured against the business goal, days away from work cases, and high potential incidents, among other criteria. Safety performance is also indicated by the attitude and culture of the overall OCI Energy team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or other relevant area of study; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Seven plus (7+) years of experience in a solar power plant asset management, or operations/maintenance.
    • Significant experience in operations or financial management, including contract administration.
    • A self-starter who can work independently on projects, data analysis, and key deliverables.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with senior management.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
    • Must possess advanced general computer operating skills, including advanced Microsoft Office® software suite (including Word®, Excel®, PowerPoint®, Project®) experience
    • Ability to travel (estimated at 10%).
  • Desired attributes
    • Three plus (3+) years of demonstrated supervisory experience with engineering, operation, and technical staff is strongly desired.
    • Familiarity and experience with enterprise-level programs for hardware and software systems for remote data acquisition and control of solar power generation facilities, including computerized maintenance management systems and data analysis tools is strongly desired.
    • Exposure to and understanding of environmental, health, and safety program management and requirements for power generation facilities is strongly desired.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision by the Asset/Operations & Maintenance Manager, the Solar Operations Engineer will provide technical support all aspects of on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and modifications of OCI Energy’s portfolio of solar PV facilities.  Duties include engineering services relating to inspection, improvement, efficient operation, maintenance, environmental assessment and compliance, monitoring, commissioning, testing, inspecting, and management of the company’s solar power generation facilities including inverters, PV module arrays, transformers, switchgear, trackers, instrumentation, communications systems, and metering systems as well as performing related work and other duties and tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides engineering support to OCI Energy’s power generating facilities and associated plant equipment and systems to ensure operation of the facilities are proper, safe, efficient and environmentally responsible, including Identifying discrepancies and develops corrective action plans
  • Monitors site performance and perform data analysis to provide information on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to measure the performance, detect underperforming equipment, and potential failures.
  • Monitors SCADA systems for alarms and coordinate communications with onsite operation team and/or external parties.
  • Provides support to develop, maintain, and control protocol and policies.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance for the assets and interface with ISOs, Utilities, TSPs DSPs or others, as applicable for each asset to coordinate and comply with the applicable rules.
  • Provides engineering support through troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supports management and control of inventory.
  • Provides support on procurement activities such as for parts supply, and coordinating with suppliers and customers as needed.
  • Provides support on RFP/RFQ, contractor selection, contract drafting/revision, contractor work supervision, contract compliance and warranties.
  • Performs analyses, prepares reports and makes recommendations to improve plant performance, equipment efficiency, and safety of plant operations
  • Inspects and performs tests on power plant equipment to assess condition, identify problems and potential for malfunction, and to design and implement plant and equipment improvements
  • May be assigned to supervise other employees to complete projects or other work assignments
  • Monitors industry trends and acquires knowledge of new methods and equipment that pertain to solar power generation, operations, and maintenance
  • Provide assistance and support to the plant to insure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations
  • Supports development and writing of specifications for operating power plant maintenance and capital improvement projects; assists Purchasing in the issuance of request-for-proposals (RFPs) and bid documents; evaluates proposals and bids and provides analyses and recommendations to OCISP staff and management
  • Compiles plant information and data and prepares forms and reports as necessary to meet state and Federal reporting requirements
  • May be required to develop load and generation forecasts and perform related analyses
  • Travels to project sites and vendor locations as assigned to support on all aspects of performance analysis, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance
  • Communicates effectively with OCISP and third-party vendors and actively participate in meeting reviews to provide technical feedback of field operations
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives and associated periodic meetings
  • Monitors sites and responds to emergency call outs as may be required
  • Ensures that all operations and maintenance activities performed at project sites complies with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) requirements and warranties

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a specialization in power generation.
  • Valid driver’s license and availability to obtain permit to drive official vehicles in the field
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of solar PV electric generating principles, mechanical and electrical engineering principles and practices desired
  • Considerable skill performing technical research, analysis, and the solving of difficult engineering problems, including power plant analyses; skill in engineering design and interpretation of engineering plans and specifications; skill at assessing operating performance and safety of the plant and determining areas of improvement or greater efficiency
  • Able to read, understand, and develop technical drawings, datasheets, and written work instructions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Project, Word and Outlook and proven ability to learn new software programs
  • Experience in monitoring outside contractors, consultants and suppliers
  • Ability to analyze data and compile information in reviewing operations and maintenance with other departments and outside contractors
  • Ability to perform advanced, complex mathematical computations and analyses
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, customer employees, engineering and other consultants, vendors, and contractors; ability to present a positive attitude

JOB SUMMARY:

The candidate’s initial reasonability will be to lead the acquisitions and divestitures of projects under development (pre-construction opportunities) and secondarily to originate new offtake contracts.

  1. Acquisitions and Divestitures
  • Lead contract negotiations to ensure profitable and timely completion of assigned transactions

Divestitures:

  • Prepare offering materials (e.g. Teaser and CIM) for sale and/or project financing of battery energy storage and solar PV assets
  • Manage data rooms to ensure timely and accurate delivery of project information

Acquisitions:

  • Lead due diligence review of projects under development by leading cross functional team of subject matter experts with the goal of assessing the value proposition (i.e. risk vs. return assessment) of various acquisition opportunities
  • Support business development, project finance and M&A activities through the creation and maintenance of project and sponsor-level valuations
  1. Offtake Origination
  • Serve as the manager responsible for thorough preparation and timely submittal of high-quality proposals for new contracts (e.g. PPAs, Build Transfer Agreements and Tolling Agreements)
  • Manage cross functional teams of internal (e.g. engineering, financial analysis) and external resources (e.g. consultants and advisors) to ensure accurate, timely and competitive submittal of proposals
  • In collaboration with the Sr. Financial Analyst, provide pricing recommendations, including assumptions and rationale to support the recommendation
  • Lead contract negotiations
  1. Weekly and Monthly Reporting
  • In collaboration with the Executive Vice President, Business Development, prepare weekly and monthly reports

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or other relevant area of study
  • MBA preferred
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in a similar role within the independent power, utility or renewable energy sector
  • Although not required, preference will be given to candidates with recent experience related to financial modeling involving tax equity partnership flip transaction structures and battery energy storage projects

With a rapidly expanding portfolio of projects in MISO and other key North American markets, we are seeking a highly motivated Interconnection Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our organization’s growth while gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge renewable energy projects.

Job Summary:

As an Interconnection Engineer reporting to the Director of Interconnection, you will play a crucial role in the full lifecycle of utility-scale solar and battery projects. Your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of the interconnection process, including site selection, managing interconnection applications, performing power flow studies, and conducting economic modeling. You will also oversee the design, specification, scheduling, testing, and commissioning of projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Track, manage, and support the company’s project portfolio across all phases of the project’s lifecycle, ensuring effective communication with TSPs, ISOs, internal teams, consultants, and other stakeholders regarding interconnection studies, applications, tests, and other project needs.
  • Conduct power flow modeling, interconnection analyses, economic assessments, and utility coordination to identify optimal locations and sizes of future projects.
  • Perform transmission analysis to evaluate constraints, congestion, and curtailment risks of points of interconnection.
  • Assist with the review and negotiation of interconnection agreements, including technical exhibits and specifications.
  • Oversee preliminary design and development of single-line diagrams for interconnections.
  • Develop schedules and milestones in coordination with the master project schedule and EPC timelines.
  • Monitor engineering, procurement, and construction of interconnection facilities that are performed by contractors or utilities, and coordinate and lead related calls.
  • Attend ISO meetings and provide updates on projects or changes that may affect the project pipeline.
  • Assist in the registration of generators with utilities, RTO/ISOs and other regulatory agencies.
  • Support ISO, NERC, FERC, and other regional compliance efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in power systems or computer engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
  • A self-starter with the capacity to work independently and deliver on key objectives.
  • Experience with PowerWorld, PSSE, PLEXOS, or other power flow and PCM software is preferred.
  • Programming experience, particularly with Python, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with interconnection processes, particularly within the ERCOT or MISO markets, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of technical concepts such as reliability, stability, congestion, curtailment, LMPs, etc. is preferred.
  • Substation design experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISOs/RTOs, TSPs, Developers, and other market participants is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is preferred.
